K-State modernizes campus parking with new stall availability sensors
Over the fall break, when campus activity decreases, K-State Parking Services will install JAPA sensors in select parking areas on the Manhattan campus. Installation will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, and is expected to last one to two days.
During this installation, parking stalls in the B6 lot, located in front of Mosier Hall, will be unavailable. Additionally, sensors will be installed in the A6 lot behind Dickens Hall and in the metered stalls in McCain Circle, adjacent to McCain Auditorium. These parking areas will also be closed during the installation.
The JAPA "smart parking" sensors will provide real-time parking availability and offer advanced analytics, allowing Parking Services to manage campus parking spaces more effectively. A specialized core drill bit will be used to create precise cylindrical holes for accessing underground utility lines during the installation.
This sensor installation is part of the Next-Gen K-State strategic plan's to modernize campus infrastructure and improve space utilization and transportation.
Please follow the marked detours and exercise caution, as utility trucks and equipment will be operating in the area.
