Prioritize wellness during Health and Well-being Month
Health and Well-being Month features events designed to prioritize student, faculty and staff wellness.
This October, the Kansas State University community is invited to take part in Health and Well-being Month.
Health and Well-being Month is designed to help students, faculty and staff intentionally focus on all aspects of their well-being, including academics, finances and physical and emotional health.
“Designating October as Health and Well-being Month is another step in creating a campus culture that actively identifies opportunities to embed health and well-being into the fabric of K-State,” said Kathleen Hatch, Morrison Family associate vice president for student well-being. “Last fall, we designated a week to elevate efforts with the inaugural Wildcat Pause Day, so this felt like a natural progression. I’m grateful for the many campus partners joining this year who are who are deeply committed to advancing the efforts for a healthy planet, community and everyone here.”
Health and Well-being Month activities include:
- Fall Fest, Monday, Oct. 13: Learn about well-being resources on campus while painting pumpkins, enjoying snacks and jamming to music.
- Petal It Forward, Wednesday, Oct. 15: Visit Bosco Plaza and receive a flower to keep or give to someone else, while supplies last.
- WellCAT Walk, Thursday, Oct. 16: Join First Lady Sally Linton for a walk on campus. Begin and end in Bosco Plaza.
For a full list of events, visit the Health and Well-being Month calendar.
October will also feature the second annual Wildcat Pause Day, on Friday, Oct. 17. Classes will not be in session that day and students are encouraged to take time to recharge and reset in whatever way feels most appropriate. Students can take the day catching up on school work, spending time with friends or family, or getting some much-needed sleep.
“Pause Day gives students and faculty the chance to step back from the constant pace of college life and focus on their well-being,” said Luci Knopik, Student Governing Association health and well-being director. “At K-State, we’re working to create a culture where taking care of yourself is seen as a strength, not a setback. Whether it’s catching your breath between responsibilities or simply giving yourself permission to rest, Wildcat Pause Day reminds us that intentional breaks help up show up with more clarity, energy, and purpose.”
