One K-State Fund expands opportunities with streamlined application process

New two-deadline system offers clearer pathways for faculty and staff to advance innovative campus initiatives.

The Next-Gen K-State strategic planning team is preparing for an exciting year of expanded funding opportunities through the One K-State Fund, offering multiple proposal deadlines for faculty and staff ready to bring transformative ideas to campus. To provide greater consistency and clarity for applicants, the strategic planning team has simplified the fund submission schedule with two clear deadlines: Oct. 1, 2025, and March 1, 2026.

Fall deadline, Oct. 1, 2025

This deadline encompasses three key funding areas: the Academic Innovation Fund, artificial intelligence innovation initiatives and an open call for proposals addressing any area that advances the Next-Gen K-State Strategic Imperatives and K-State Opportunity Agenda. The fund provides substantial support with budgets ranging from $10,000-$100,000 or more, depending on the initiative type.

Initial proposals should be submitted as executive summaries and require written endorsement from the appropriate dean or vice president. Finalists will be notified by the late fall semester to begin comprehensive proposal development.

Spring deadline, March 1, 2026

The spring deadline will support core research facility upgrades; the University Outstanding Scholars program; Design, Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, or DASH, Awards; and an open call for interdisciplinary initiatives within the Sustainability opportunity agenda item. Additional information for these opportunities will be available in late fall or early spring semester.
