Student Recital and Performance Checklist

Students interested in showcasing their talents should follow this checklist in preparation for their event:

  1. Consult with your major/program Faculty Advisor.
  2. Consult the MTD Directory Calendar and Room Schedule to determine an available date and venue.
  3. Reserve your recital space and any practice time using the Room Reservation Form.
    1. For help reserving a room, contact Kayla Engel in 109 McCain or via email (krengel@ksu.edu)
  4. Once your recital reservation is confirmed for your recital day, consider who and what you want your audience to know about your event and submit the News & Events form at least 72 hours before your desired publication date, if not earlier
    1. Events listed on the MTD Directory Calendar are most visible to MTD students and faculty.
    2. Events listed on the University Events Calendar have a wider audience and are listed on the university calendar along with all of the other events at the university.
      1. If listing on the University Calendar, provide a brief (2-3 sentence) description to inform your audience about the event, and a photo is required.
    3. You may also choose to have your event publicized as a Music Announcements on kstatemtd.com. A title, description, and photo are required.
    4. If your event or announcement isn't posted on your requested date, please email Kayla Engel (krengel@ksu.edu) for assistance with the MTD Directory Calendar or Prof. David Wood (davidwood@ksu.edu) for assistance with the University Events Calendar or kstatemtd.com
  5. Rehearse. Then rehearse some more.
  6. Create a program for your event. MTD chooses to provide digital programs for most events. A program template is linked above. This format provides simplicity and consistency among the various disciplines within MTD.
  7. Once your program is confirmed, send it to theater@ksu.edu in both .pdf format at least 48 hours prior to your event.
  8. Your program will be posted to the Event Program page for audience members to access.
  9. Each performance venue (All Faiths, Kirmser, Chapman Theatre, and McCain) has a display board near the venue entrance with a printed QR code linked to the Event Program page.
  10. If additional QR codes are needed, the file in both .pdf and .eps formats are linked above. Feel free to include them into PowerPoints or other audience materials.
