Fall 2021 K-State Choirs Student Administrative Staff Positions
For Fall 2021, K-State Choirs is seeking students for the positions below. Students must be trustworthy, possess initiative, have good communication skills, use various workspace platforms, and have a history of outstanding attendance and assignment completion. For each position, a training scholarship and an eventual full-time scholarship is available. You can apply for as many positions that spark your interest.
The application is open to all returning members - regardless of major! You will start training ASAP and will start a full-time position in the semester listed below. You must plan to attend K-State for both the 2021-22 and 2022-2023 school year at the minimum.
K-State Choir Staff
Social Media and Marketing Manager (start full-time F’22)
- Train with Spencer Pope for the 2021-2022 school year.
- Post social media content to the K-State Choirs Instagram and Facebook. You will post casual photos, concert information, event information, shoutouts, as well as other curated media.
- Use Canva to create, edit, and proof graphic content.
- Work to promote upcoming concerts and events.
- Update our website with ensemble information, upcoming events, and bios.
- Attend all K-State Choir events and concerts.
- Serve 1 hour per week in the Choral Office.
- Assist with photography.
- Be creative! Have any new ideas? Explore them.

Prospective Student Manager (start full-time F’22)
- Train with Josie Jones for the 2021-2022 school year.
- Serve 1 hour per week in the Choral Office.
- Attend all K-State Choir events and concerts.
- Meet prospective students during their visits to K-State.
- Follow up with students after their visits.
- Email prospective students to attend any of their needs (questions about the program, audition information, etc.).
- Travel to KMEA, SWACDA and other events at director’s discretion to recruit for the program.
- Be the face of the choirs to prospective students and make them feel welcome and known in your presence.
- Check prospective student forms online and audition for music major forms and reach out to those students via email.
- Write postcards to students after a visit.
- Prepare prospective student folders and keep them up to date.
- Be imaginative and come up with new ways to recruit students!
Dr. Oppenheim’s Administrative Assistant (start full-time F’22)
- Train with Kayleigh Ballesteros for the 2021-2022 school year.
- Help to plan and organize concerts, retreat, recruiting tours, and other events for Concert Choir.
- Assist in planning international and conference travel for Concert Choir.
- Serve 2-3 office hours with Dr. Oppenheim per week.
- Communicate via email on Dr. Oppenheim’s behalf to clinicians, venues, etc.
- Miscellaneous tasks from Dr. Oppenheim (ex. scanning sheet music and textbooks, proofreading programs and other documents).
- Attend all K-State Choir events and concerts.
In-A-Chord A cappella Leadership
You must be planning to audition, have auditioned, or are currently in the group.
In-A-Chord Business Manager (start full-time S’22)
- Train with Kayleigh Ballesteros for the Fall of 2021.
- Attend all In-A-Chord rehearsals and concerts. Rehearsals are held 3:30-5:30 Tuesday and Thursday.
- Meet with Dr. Oppenheim and the rehearsal leader once a week for 1 hour to discuss music, progress of the group, etc.
- Communicate with individuals via email regarding gig opportunities, booking concert venues, and any other communication needs that may arise.
- Work together with the rehearsal leader to pick repertoire for the semester.
- Plan and lead auditions at the beginning of the semester (choose the audition cut, communicate with auditionees via email regarding callbacks and callback results.
- Create a Google Drive folder with the semesters’ music, rehearsal schedule, and any other important documents
In-A-Chord Rehearsal Leader (start full-time S’22)
- Observe Abbi Davenport for the Fall of 2021.
- Attend all In-A-Chord rehearsals and concerts. Rehearsals are held 3:30-5:30 Tuesday and Thursday.
- Create a rehearsal schedule for each week at least one week in advance and upload to Google Drive.
- Come prepared to lead each rehearsal.
- Work together with the business manager to pick repertoire for the semester.
- Meet with Dr. Oppenheim and the business manager once a week for 1 hour to discuss music, progress of the group, etc.
- Assist the business manager with emails.
In-A-Chord Sound Engineer (start full-time S’22)
- Train under Spencer Pope in the Fall of 2021.
- Attend all In-A-Chord rehearsals - they are held 3:30-5:30 on Tuesday and Thursday.
- Attend all In-A-Chord concerts to run sound.
- Help set-up and tear-down equipment for each rehearsal.
- Mix the group using the soundboard and program cues during rehearsal.
- Operate the Behringer X32 board, Shure microphones, and extraneous sound equipment.
- Troubleshoot if issues arise.
- Collaborate with group leadership to ensure group amplification is superb!
