Music Major for a Day

This event is for any high school junior or senior interested in majoring in music at Kansas State University. Students will experience a typical day as a music major.

Participants will have the opportunity to visit campus, observe classes and ensembles, talk with current music students, get advice on preparing to be a music major, ask questions to the faculty, and experience lunch at an on-campus dining facility.

This event is open to 30 juniors and seniors selected by lottery who register. You will be contacted by email to confirm your registration.

Schedule

  • 8:45am: Check In at Kimser Hall (McCain Room 204)
  • 9:00am: Welcome Event at Kirmser Hall
  • 9:30am: Class Visits
  • 11:30am: Studio Visits
  • 12:00pm: Lunch at Kramer Hall (provided) and Campus Tour (Meet outside All Faiths Chapel)
  • 3:30pm: Return Home or Attend Ensembles Rehearsals (optional)

Parents

Parents are an integral part of the college process. Accordingly, parents are certainly allowed to attend with their student, though this day is geared towards high school juniors and seniors and parent attendance is not required.
