Audition Requirements

Undergraduate

Solo of choice demonstrating contrasting styles
4 scales (1 and 2 octave) and a full-range chromatic scale
-Or-
2 contrasting etudes (lyrical and technical)
4 scales (1 and 2 octave) and a full-range chromatic scale

Undergraduate BM in performance must also prepare:

• Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, Promenade
• Respighi's Pines of Rome, Offstage solo

Graduate

If auditioning to be a graduate student, the following materials are required

2 solos or movements demonstrating contrasting styles
1 selection on piccolo trumpet (e.g. etude, solo section, excerpt)

The following orchestral excerpts:

• Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, Promenade
• Bizet's Carmen Suite No. 1, Prelude
• Stravinsky's Petrushka (1947), The Ballerina's Dance
