Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013

MANHATTAN -- High school marching bands from across Kansas -- and even Missouri -- are coming to Manhattan on Saturday, Sept. 14, to participate in Kansas State University's annual Band Day.

Band Day starts with a parade at 1 p.m. in Aggieville's Triangle Park, with the bands starting east on Moro Street, turning south on 11th Street and then west on Poyntz Avenue. The parade will continue north on 14th Street to Anderson Avenue. A map of the parade route is available at http://bit.ly/17rlQia.

"Band Day is a long-lived tradition here at K-State that rallies the city, campus, athletics and bands all around the theme of the 'Spirit of the Wildcats,'" said Frank Tracz, director of bands at K-State. "I appreciate seeing the students experience a K-State football day with eyes wide open; there is much fun for all."

During halftime of the football game against the University of Massachusetts, all schools will take the field with the Kansas State University Marching Band and perform "YMCA," "Sweet Caroline," "God Bless America," "1812 Overture" and "Wildcat Victory."
