Education abroad: Scholarships help students learn across continents

MANHATTAN — Kansas State University students will take their education abroad this summer and fall with the help of scholarships awarded through the university's Office of International Programs.

Study destinations include Australia, Chile, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain and the United Kingdom.

The following students have earned a Kansas State University education abroad scholarship:

Madelyn Smith, junior in education-art, Andale, $5,000 Mike and Becky Goss Study Abroad Scholarship and $850 Education Abroad Need Base Scholarship for Spain; Geneva Fink, sophomore in human development and family science, Chapman, $5,000 Mike and Becky Goss Study Abroad Scholarship for the Czech Republic; Kayla Harter, junior in human development and family science, Cimarron, $250 Heather Stewart Memorial Scholarship for Italy; Alice Davidson, junior in political science, Clay Center, $250 Vernon Larson Scholarship for Mexico; Kourtney Talkington, junior in nutrition and health, Ellis, $1,000 Duane and Shirley Acker International Scholarship Award for Italy; Corben Cartmill-Acevedo, senior in architecture, Emporia, $250 Doris Hays Fenton Memorial Scholarship for Italy; Samantha Carpenter, senior in music, Eudora, $250 Doris Hays Fenton Memorial Scholarship for Germany; Faith Tuttle, senior in political science, Gove, $5,000 Mike and Becky Goss Study Abroad Scholarship for the Netherlands.

From Greater Kansas City: Adam Haines, junior in humanities, Leawood, $5,000 Mike and Becky Goss Study Abroad Scholarship for Spain; Elshaddai Abamegal, senior in mechanical engineering, Olathe, $5,000 Mike and Becky Goss Study Abroad Scholarship for the Czech Republic; Alexandra Decarlo, sophomore in interior design, Olathe, $250 Doris Hays Fenton Memorial Scholarship for the United Kingdom; Jaden Castinado, junior in food science and industry, Overland Park, $2,000 Freshmen Education Abroad Scholarship for Spain; Seth Castinado, senior in accounting and finance, Overland Park, $250 Doris Hays Fenton Memorial Scholarship for Australia; Jonathan Sands, senior in mathematics, Overland Park, $5,000 Mike and Becky Goss Study Abroad Scholarship for the Czech Republic; Sarah Weinand, senior in architecture, Overland Park, $500 Education Abroad Need Base Scholarship for France; Madison Brown, junior in finance, Shawnee, $5,000 Mike and Becky Goss Study Abroad Scholarship for France.
