- Compensate interns at a minimum of $15.00 per hour, up to 40 hours per week for 10-12 weeks.

Listing an internship
- Submit the employer interest form. This will ask general questions about your company/organization and your hopes for the internship. It should take less than 20 minutes to complete.
- Once the form is submitted, Program Coordinator Maggie Billman will reach out to you within 1-3 business days to discuss next steps. If desired, Maggie will gladly schedule a call to discuss more details, or assist you with ideation of your internship listing.
- When a position description is ready, Maggie will help employers list their opening in Handshake, the K-State Career Center's job listing platform.
- At this time, any participation agreements will be provided to the employer.
Hiring an intern
- The KCI team will work to promote internship opportunities to K-State students.
- Students will apply via Handshake. Employers will have access to their portal to view applications.
- Employers host interviews, engage with their hiring process. Interviews may be conducted virtually or in-person. If employers desire to host interviews in Manhattan, the program coordinator will assist with reserving space, etc.
- Interns complete any necessary trainings and paperwork. Employers are encouraged to reach out to the program coordinator to discuss trainings as K-State may host them, saving employers time and resources.
The internship
- Students are able to begin work following the culmination of the spring semester.
- Interns work for 10-12 weeks, ensuring return to campus by the beginning of the fall semester.
- Supervisors regularly offer feedback to interns, utilizing provided templates if desired.
Support from K-State
The program coordinator will be available to assist interns and employers throughout the entire process. If any help is needed at any point, we are available. From creating a job description, to developing interview questions, to assisting with intern feedback. The program coordinator hopes to conduct at least one site visit during the summer to offer a personal connection to K-State.
