Important dates

• Info Session | 3:30-4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19 | 126 Leadership Studies Building
  • This session is critical to attend if you are considering applying! We'll go over eligibility, answer questions, and brainstorm with you.
• Applications due | Monday, Oct. 26
  • Submit your service project proposals by this deadline. We'll contact you if we want to hear your pitch.

• Service Pitch Competition | 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9
  • Experience a Shark Tank-inspired event at the Service Pitch Competition. Show up ready to explain your service project in detail to the panel of judges. The winning projects will receive up to $1,000 in funding to go out and serve our communities!

The details

Who can participate?

K-State students - in any major, at any K-State campus - are invited to apply for grants up to $1,000 to fund their new or existing service project. Students can compete as individuals or in groups.

What is the funding for?

Funding will cover eligible expenses such as project supplies, transportation, volunteer incentives.

When do I host my service project?

Projects must take place and be completed by April 30, 2027.

What is a service project?

Service projects are events or activities that benefit domestic communities. International opportunities cannot be funded. See examples below.

What else do recipients need to do?

Grant recipients will provide reporting and feedback after their project is complete.

Examples of service projects

Service projects should be activities - not just fundraisers - that benefit our communities. Here are a few examples to help you start dreaming about your own idea.

• A literacy project to provide books for K-12 school classrooms
• Working with a senior citizen community
• Packing crisis kits for those in need
• Filling snack bags for K-12 schools
• Making tye blankets for a shelter
• Working with an animal rescue
• Supporting a fit closet
