Position Title: Multimedia Journalist Student Intern

Department: Applied Learning Experiences

Reports to: Marketing and Communications Manager

Type: Internship (paid)

The Multimedia Journalist Intern supports the Applied Learning Experiences communications and marketing team by researching, producing, and publishing compelling multimedia content across digital platforms. The intern will have opportunities to pitch stories, interview sources, create visuals, and help expand audience engagement.

Responsibilities:

Content Creation

  • Research, pitch, and develop story ideas related to Applied Learning at K-State.
  • Write clear, engaging, accurate news-style articles, blog posts, and captions.
  • Capture and edit photo and video content for web, email, and social media channels.

Reporting & Interviews

  • Conduct interviews with students, staff, faculty, and community partners.
  • Attend events to gather multimedia assets and quotes.

Collaboration

  • Work with the Applied Learning Experiences team to produce stories that promote the mission of Applied Learning Experiences at K-State.

Qualifications

  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Must be enrolled at K-State during the 2026-27 academic year
  • Ability to write clearly and accurately.
  • Familiar with AP Style Guidelines
  • Ability to gather, verify, and use credible sources.
  • Basic video and photography skills.
  • Audio and video editing proficiency.
  • Student studying News and Sports Media, Journalism, or similar preferred.
