Archbishop of the Titular See of Newport (Wales)

Educator, author, radio and television apologist, archbishop. He was born Peter Sheen on May 8, 1895, in El Paso, Illinois. He was ordained to the priesthood on Sept. 20, 1919, in Peoria, Illinois. He served as an auxillary bishop for the Archdiocese of New York from 1951-1966. On December 16, 1966, he was appointed the bishop of the Rochester, New York, Diocese. Bishop Sheen is most famous for his radio show, "The Catholic Hour," and his television show, "Life is Worth Living." This is a cenotaph. He is buried at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City.
