Women in Business Career Summit awards more than $30,000 in scholarships

Women in Business Career Summit

The K-State College of Business Administration held its third annual Women in Business Career Summit on Monday, Nov. 13, at the K-State Student Union and Business Building.

Nearly 600 high school and college students, faculty and staff members, corporate partners, and working professionals gathered together to participate in the day's events. More than $30,000 in scholarships were awarded to both current and prospective K-State students during the event.

The following high school students are scholarship recipients: 

Shaylee Schotte, Hanover; Sydney Meier, Hays; Rylee Meier, Hesston; Olivia Leach, Junction City; Samantha Allman, Manhattan; Katelynn Newman, Maize; Mackenzie Woods, Medicine Lodge; Campbell Garafola, Olathe; Rebecca Palmeri, Seneca; Kynley Verdict, Shawnee; and Molly Didde, Topeka.

From out of state: Madison Garrison, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.

The following are college student scholarship recipients:

Charlize Urbanek, Anna Nordberg, Susana Carillo and Carol Pedrosa, accounting; Drew Alstatt, agricultural technology management; Sophia Schneider, chemical engineering; Jaylee Giles, management; Alyssa Gonzales-Holguin, management information systems; Sophie Schumacher, marketing; Mia Adkins, marketing and operations and supply chain management; Troi Peart, open option; Claire Wohler, organizational management; Karlee Chase, public health and professional strategic selling.

Presented by the Center for Principled Business at Kansas State University, the career summit featured diverse breakout sessions aimed at empowering women in different stages of their academic and professional journeys. Participants engaged in a day dedicated to personal and professional growth, networking, scholarships and new learning opportunities. View additional information about the event

This year's summit highlighted keynote speakers Jeanette Hernandez Prenger, founder and CEO of ECCO Select, and Kristine Davis, a spacesuit engineer at NASA and K-State alumna.
