Glaser to present professional development event today

Submitted by Ashley A. Schiffer

Melissa Glaser from the English department will present "More Than Kindness: Practical Ways to Support Students with Empathy and Boundaries" from noon to 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 22, via Zoom.

The presentation is part of the Teaching and Learning Center's Professional Development Series.

While we know that empathy is essential for supporting students, our approach to empathy must also be sustainable and reflect our own values. The presentation will focus on specific, practical and feasible ways to incorporate empathy so that we can teach and students can learn. Participants will also explore how to set and define boundaries, consider the balance between flexibility and consistency, and discuss the difference between empowering students and enabling them.
