Theatre students recognized at conference

Theatre students attended the annual Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival in Des Moines, Iowa, from Jan. 22–28. Students presented research and participated in workshops and masterclasses.

Jackson Berland and Masie Dulitz competed in the Irene Ryan Acting contest. Dulitz was in the top 50 semi-finalists out of more than 300 submissions for performance in the seven-state region.

A short play by Morgan Boyer was workshopped.

Lindsey Edwards presented her research on Much Ado About Nothing.

Katie Flynn directed a new play.

K-State Theatre’s production of "Head Over Heels" was awarded Best Ensemble.

Nikela Reed’s original short play Occidimus was a Gary Garrison 10-Minute Regional Finalist and received a public performance. Occidimus is currently being considered for a professional reading at The Kennedy Center in New York City.

Mackenzie Brown, Clever Christman, Jayden Gittle, Ginger Harris, Rachel Kuenzi, Cooper Mills, McKenna Moten, Michael Pierce, Drew Scrivner and Francis Sheehan all attended.
