Goins

Wayne Goins, university distinguished professor of music, published an in-depth interview with Chicago jazz guitarist Steve Knight in the October 2022 release of Jazz Guitar Life, a highly popular online jazz guitar journal that features the most prominent artists in the world.

Goins interviewed Knight, whose debut album "Persistence" features the original tunes composed by the Chicago-based artist who has recorded his jazz guitar trio album with Justin Peterson on bass and Jeff Stitely on drums — sidemen he regularly uses in the clubs on Chicago's north side. Knight, a former student of Emporia State University, arrived regularly in Manhattan to study with Goins for a year between 2011-12 before moving first to New York City and eventually to Chicago, where he has established his reputation as a performing and recording artist for the last six years.

Goins, a feature writer at Jazz Guitar Life, has regularly submitted a wide variety of pieces, including exclusive jazz artist profiles, CD reviews, podcast interviews and feature articles related to jazz recordings on vinyl.
