Submitted by Human Capital Services - Learning & Development

Have you ever cleaned off your desk or weeded your inbox and wondered if you're handling university information correctly? Would you like to avoid second-guessing yourself next time you shred, recycle, file or delete work-related records?

Join Ryan Leimkuehler, university records manager, for Records and Information Management Month Records Management 101 — ARM 101 — for in-person training, or ARM 103 for Zoom training. From 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, in 118 Hale Library, Leimkuehler will cover the basic information needed for university records creators and designees and provide best practices for records management when working from home. Additionally, the training will also focus on data storage guidance for the university as well as the Use of University Mobile Devices, Personal Devices, and Accounts Policy.

His course will walk attendees through why records management is important, how to follow the university retention schedule, and what the legal requirements are when managing both paper and electronic records. It concludes with an in-depth discussion on how to identify records and the process of updating the university retention schedule.
