Learn basics of Office of Recruitment and Admissions' approach to recruiting new undergraduates

Submitted by Tamara Byland

The Office of Recruitment and Admissions will host a special meeting intended for staff and faculty who have responsibilities and vested interest in recruiting new freshmen and transfer students to K-State. The meeting will take place in person from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, in the KSU ballrooms in the K-State Student Union. Lunch will be provided.

The purpose of the meeting is for the university community to learn the basics of how the Office Recruitment and Admissions approaches recruiting, admitting and welcoming new undergraduates. The focus will be on incoming freshmen and transfers, domestic and international, who are degree-seeking on the Manhattan campus. Topics include:

  • The office's structure and core responsibilities.
  • Vision and overarching goals for the future.
  • Best practices in recruitment from an industry lens.
  • Admissions funnel and funnel management.
  • Communication and marketing efforts.
  • Freshman, transfer, multicultural, international recruitment efforts.
  • Campus visits and events.
  • Application for admission and decision processes.
  • Sharing vision for Orientation and Enrollment 2022 and beyond — more detailed meeting coming in spring 2022.

As a result of this meeting, staff and faculty will have a better sense of how, when and where they can assist in the recruitment process. Note that online, graduate or recruitment for other campuses will not be discussed at this session.

For catering purposes, please register by Dec. 1. An option to receive a recording after the meeting is available for those who cannot attend in person.
