Join with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics for a symposium and celebration in honor of Professor Larry Davis' 45 years of teaching, research and service at Kansas State University.

The celebration will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, in the Wildcat Chamber of the K-State Union. The symposium will begin at 2 p.m. and will feature presentations by two Davis lab alumni:

  • Professor Binghui Shen, Department of Cancer Genetics and Epigenetics, City of Hope
"Okazaki fragment maturation: Life, death, or mutagenesis"
  • Professor Lee Zou, Department of Pathology, Harvard Medical School
"The ATR Signaling Pathway: from Basic Research to Targeted Cancer Therapy"

A reception with remarks will follow at 3:30 p.m.

Davis received his Bachelor of Science from Haverford College and his doctorate from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Following postdoctoral positions in the bacteriology and biochemistry departments at the University of Wisconsin, he joined the department of biochemistry in 1975. Research in his laboratory focused on nitrogen fixation and more recently, pathways involved in phytoremediation of soil and water contaminants. In addition to his research and teaching, Davis was a longtime biochemistry graduate program director and a dedicated mentor with a passion for introducing students to laboratory research. Please join us in honoring his career at K-State.
