Required FERPA training for 2021-22

Submitted by Office of the Registrar

FERPA, or Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, training is required for all faculty, staff and student employees who access student data as part of their work duties.

FERPA is a federal law requiring that educational institutions maintain the confidentiality of student education records. Faculty and staff members play a key role in the protection and integrity of student records. It is incumbent upon them to maintain, report and make available information included in student education records in compliance with the requirements of FERPA.

Faculty, staff and student employees who have access to student data must complete the new FERPA 2021-22 training. If you do not receive a targeted notification email and link to the FERPA training, you can access it at any time from the Office of the Registrar website.

A score of 60% or more is required for successful completion of the training. Successful completion is tracked and then reported in the Training Summary area of HRIS, normally within 24 hours. A score of less than 60% will not be reported to HRIS as a completion.

Please visit the Office of the Registrar website for additional information about FERPA at Kansas State University.
