Campus application open for Marshall, Mitchell, Rhodes and Truman scholarships
Kansas State University is seeking students to compete for the Marshall, Mitchell, Rhodes and Truman scholarships. Each award requires a competitive nomination to apply nationally, and the Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships has set March 19 as the campus deadline for these opportunities.
Faculty and staff can support these campus searches in several ways:
- Please encourage promising students to apply. Campus mentors are often most influential as students consider whether it is worth their time and effort to compete.
- Consider sharing the names of potential applicants with Jim Hohenbary at jimlth@k-state.edu, who will follow up on such referrals and share campus applications as appropriate.
- If you would have an interest in serving on a campus nominating committee or practice interview panel at some point, just let the office know.
The Marshall, Mitchell and Rhodes scholarships all use a single campus application. The Truman has its own campus application. Individuals should also email Jim Hohenbary to obtain a copy of either, to facilitate follow-up communication.
Basic information about these opportunities:
The Marshall, Mitchell and Rhodes scholarships all fund graduate study abroad. The Marshall funds study at any university in the United Kingdom. The Mitchell funds study at one of the six universities in Ireland. And the Rhodes funds study at the University of Oxford specifically. Students eligible in this competition cycle must complete their undergraduate studies at K-State by May 2022, or sooner. Additional eligibility restrictions vary by award.
The Harry S. Truman Scholarship awards up to $30,000 to support graduate study for students who aspire to public service careers. Students applying in this application cycle must plan on graduating between December 2022 and August 2023. Students must also rank in the top quarter of their class and be U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals.
