Inclusion for financial professionals encouraged through use of peer support groups

Submitted by Meghan McInnes

Meghan McInnes, AFC, FFC and K-State Personal Financial Planning graduate student, co-led a webinar, "Building Inclusion through Peer-to-Peer Support Groups," for the Association of Financial Counseling and Planning Education, or AFCPE, and Financial Planning Association, or FPA.

The webinar focuses on sharing lessons from a peer group within the nationwide Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's Financial Coaching Initiative including a small research component. The webinar's main goal is to improve inclusion within financial organizations and groups through the use of peer groups facilitating enhanced communication, openness and team building within a safe space. Participants will obtain the tools needed to establish and sustain peer support groups for financial practitioners.

Financial planning students and faculty can access the information under FPA Connect on its AFCPE login.
