According to the 2022 USDA Agriculture Census, Kansas produced 781 acres of pumpkins on 149 farms. In 2024 the John C. Pair Horticultural Center established a field plot to evaluate the yield of eleven commercially available varieties. To learn more about the research, please view the pumpkin report/handout.

The John C. Pair Horticultural Center recently completed a study on ornamental sunflowers, as the state flower has become popular options for florist use in cut-flower arrangements. Our
goal was to evaluate commercially available ProCutĀ® varieties in a field plot in South-Central KS.
