Office 365

Office 365, an office collaboration suite, is available for free for K-State, faculty, staff, and students. It includes tools such as email, calendar, office applications, file storage space, and more. You can access the suite from your desktop, web browser, or phone.

The K-State IT Help Desk is available to assist customers with general support for K-State email, calendar, OneDrive, and the installation of Office 365 components, including Microsoft Office Suite. Training and documentation are available from Microsoft for additional components such as the Office Online applications, Skype, Yammer, and more.

Email

Office 365 email has a default mailbox size of 50GB. You can send messages up to 150 MB, and sync with supported email apps and mobile devices.

Calendar

Manage your calendar, share available meeting times, schedule meetings, get reminders, and more.

OneDrive for Business

OneDrive comes with 1 TB file storage that can be synced across all your devices. Learn more

Microsoft Office Suite

Desktop applications can be installed on up to 5 PCs or Macs, five tablets, and five phones. Online web-based versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and One Note also available. Learn more

Yammer

Enterprise social networking service. Create groups and provide a central place to discuss ideas, share best practices, files, updates, and more. 

Clutter

Clutter is an email sorting tool that learns your email habits and then filters and moves low priority messages you typically ignore (not Junk mail) to the Clutter folder. You can help Clutter learn faster by dragging emails from your Inbox to Clutter. The Clutter feature is on by default but can be turned it off in preferences. Learn more.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a communication tool for groups, teams, or departments. Teams is a workspace for communication, meetings, file sharing, and app sharing. Teams enables the participation of those with validated identities, for collaborations at K-State and elsewhere.

With Teams, your public or private team can do the following:

  • Chat-based communication through Chat, Channels, and Wikis
  • Virtual space for audio and video meetings with recording capabilities and Microsoft Stream
  • Create, upload, store and share files in one place
  • Group editing in Office 365, files, and Wiki
  • Maintain institutional memory of the Team's work
Added Teaching and Learning Capabilities

Teams has recently enabled a Class Team type, with assignment/quiz features, a gradebook, and other aspects that can be used for teaching and learning. Final grades will still have to be submitted through Canvas and affirmed in KSIS or input directly into KSIS, to meet privacy and accessibility guidelines. Canvas is the officially supported learning management system with the appropriate integrations. Other systems such as Microsoft Teams are available but have limited support.

Based on feedback from faculty, K-Staters have been using Teams for various types of teaching and learning applications, most often as a complement to existing teaching and learning methods (face-to-face, blended, and fully online). Many third-party content creators have also created shareable assignments and quizzes and applications that may be integrated.
