Kansas State University is committed to maintaining the highest level of cybersecurity for our community. To enhance our security posture, we have adopted CrowdStrike Falcon as our antivirus (AV) solution. This cutting-edge software provides robust protection against a wide range of cyber threats.

Automatic Installation for University Devices

  • Windows Domain-Joined Computers: CrowdStrike Falcon will be automatically installed on all Windows domain-joined computers. No action is required on your part for these devices.

Manual Installation for Mac OS and Windows

For devices that are not automatically covered, such as Mac OS systems or specific non-domain-joined Windows machines, you can manually install CrowdStrike Falcon by following these instructions.

Personally Owned Devices

Please note that personally owned devices are not licensed to use CrowdStrike Falcon. However, it is mandatory that all devices connected to K-State's network have an up-to-date antivirus solution installed. This ensures the safety and integrity of our network and the personal information of all our users.

Recommended Antivirus Solutions for Personally Owned Devices

While CrowdStrike Falcon is reserved for university-owned devices, we recommend the following antivirus solutions for personal use:

  • Windows
    • Windows Defender (built into Windows 10 and Windows 11)
    • Avast Free Antivirus
    • AVG Antivirus Free
  • Mac OS
    • Avast Security for Mac
    • Sophos Home

Compliance Policy

All devices connecting to K-State's network must have antivirus software installed and kept up to date.
