If you will receive health insurance through Kansas State University…

  • As a benefits-eligible employee of K-State, you will have the option to obtain health insurance through the State Employee Health (SEHP). The only insurance plan offered through K-State that meets the Department of State’s minimum medical benefits is Plan J.
  • Your insurance with the State Employee Health Plan will not begin until your first day of employment. Since there may be a gap between the start date on the DS-2019 and your actual first day of employment, you may need to purchase medical insurance to bridge the gap.
  • In addition, the insurance provided by Kansas State University does not include Medical Evacuation and Repatriation, which is required by the U.S. Department of State. Therefore, you must purchase this coverage separately.
