Session Description: Designed for current K-State supervisors, this immersive, day-long workshop builds essential skills for navigating difficult conversations with direct reports, peers, and stakeholders. As a participant, you will learn to stay calm and composed even when emotions arise, separate facts from assumptions, and maintain a solution-focused approach. Using the simple, structured Critical Friends methodology as a foundation, you will bring an existing challenge to share and a small group of peers will provide perspectives and potential solutions. Then you will practice structured, respectful dialogue that promotes clarity, trust, and accountability. Supervisors will leave with greater confidence to approach workplace challenges.
Session Objectives: As a result of this session, participants will:
- Apply a structured approach to planning and holding difficult conversations
- Grow a network of fellow supervisors at K-State to support different perspectives in problem-solving
