Audience:  Supervisors and Human Resources Liaisons

Session Description: Employees often need to take leave for medical reasons. It is important that HR Liaisons are involved the process to appropriately document any leave that is approved for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) protected leave. This course provides the foundation for HR Liaisons to administer FMLA leave for your department, unit, or college. A secondary training, FMLA Administration, will be offered in late spring 2018. 

Session Objectives: As a result of this session, participants will: 

  • Understand FMLA basics including employee eligibility criteria and state leave laws
  • Understand what qualifies as FMLA leave
  • Understand your responsibilities as it pertains to FMLA and Kansas State University's time and leave policies
  • Understand reporting and recording-keeping timelines per the Department of Labor
