Audience:  All Employees

Session Description:  Microsoft Visio Pro is a common diagramming tool which enables the creation of vector graphics.  The tool contains many templates for various applications: network, software, flowcharts, education, business, database, floor plans, and other.  Users may access collections of shapes, line tools, design themes, and layout grids.  There are higher level functions in Developer tabs, database integrations, auto-layout features, and macro capabilities.  This session addresses how to get started with Visio to communicate visually and with precision.

Session Objectives:  By the end of the training, supervisors and managers will be able to:

  • Explain the graphical user interface of MS Visio Pro
  • Explore the work space of MS Visio and the available templates
  • Build and label a basic diagram type (flowchart, timeline, or other)
  • Apply pre-created style themes
  • Export the diagram into a usable file type
  • Critique the visual for strengths and weaknesses based on diagramming conventions
