Audience: All employees who may be exposed to hazardous chemicals when working
Session Description: Hazard Communication (HazCom) training is required for all employees who may be "exposed" to hazardous chemicals when working. "Exposure" or "exposed" under the HazCom standard means that an employee is subjected to a hazardous chemical in the course of employment through any route of entry (inhalation, ingestion, skin contact, or absorption) and includes potential (e.g., accidental or possible) exposure. Employees that completed HazCom training prior to September 2013 will need to attend a current course that includes GHS.
Session Objectives: As a result of this session, participants will:
- Know the purpose of the hazard communication standard (HCS).
- Recognize the new changes with the implementation of the Global Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS).
- Identify how and where hazard communication information can be available and accessed in their own department or college.
- Distinguish who is responsible for HCS functions at the college or department.
