We are hiring! Seeking a Tenure-track Assistant Professor, Sedimentology

Hiring Sedimentologist

Dear all,

We (Department of Geology, Kansas State University) are looking to hire a Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Sedimentology. Dr. Claudia Adam (cadam@ksu.edu) is the search chair and questions should be directed to Claudia.

We seek an enthusiastic and versatile geoscientist able to contribute to our growing bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The position requires excellence in teaching and mentoring, professional and scholarly achievements, and a commitment to service to the Department and the University. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program, supervise graduate and undergraduate theses, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The successful applicant will ideally carry out research in the broad area of sedimentary geology and/or stratigraphy. Anticipated areas of specialization could include carbonate or clastic sedimentology, depositional environments, basin analysis, sequence stratigraphy, sedimentary facies, and/or diagenesis. Research that interfaces with the broad area of the energy transition (e.g., groundwater / geothermal systems, carbon or hydrogen sequestration, etc.) is desirable, as is the ability to combine field skills with a broad range of analytical methods to quantify geologic processes. The new faculty member will be expected to teach our undergraduate course in Sedimentology and Stratigraphy and develop upper level undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of specialty; they will also be expected to supervise research students in this area of geoscience.
