Dr. Abdelmoneam Raef has joined K-state Geology as a tenure-track assistant professor in the Fall of 2008. He earned his PhD in Applied Geophysics with emphasis on hydrocarbon reservoir characterization based on 3D and 4D seismic reflection and well-logging methods. His research has spanned a versatile range of research projects in exploration seismology, environmental and engineering geophysics, laboratory ultrasonics, and machine learning geoscience applications. Dr. Raef’s research expertise also includes multi-resolution analysis based on wavelet transforms as applied to seismic reflection data. His teaching portfolio offers graduate courses on Seismic data interpretation, Seismic data processing, and subsurface methods, and undergraduate courses on Field geophysics and Physical geology. Dr. Raef is serving as the department liaison on IT and computing technologies in addition to other service assignments in response to emerging needs.
