Miranda Cook
Major: Marketing
What is your intended career path? Even though graduation is approaching, I don’t know what I exactly want to do after college. Through my education I have really enjoyed learning about sales and finding a way to use that to help people. I am interested in selling people financial service. I know that what ever I do I want to work with people and help them.
What K-State First Program were you involved in? I was involved in the Guide to Personal Success (GPS) Program, First Year Seminar, and I have read the KSBN book every year at K-State!
How did K-State First affect you as a first-year student? K-State First helped me transition as a freshman into K-State. The transition from high school to college can be a scary experience but through my First Year Seminar I was able to learn that it is important to talk to your professors with questions. I was also about to connect with students that I am still friends with. My GPS mentor helped me to get involved with a K-State First and also told me about other opportunities on campus.
Why do you enjoy K-State First Student Advisory Council? I love the people I work with on the Student Advisory Council. I love planning for our meetings and meeting with our members to help them have a valuable experience with their time on SAC.
I am especially passionate about helping… students find their career path and making the steps to have a great college experience and develop them for their career.
My top five strengths are… Achiever, Futuristic, Belief, Learner, and Input
What top strength is used at K-State First Student Advisory Council? I would say that I use all five of my strengths on SAC but I probably use achiever the most to help get our projects completed.
What are your interests and involvements on campus? Other than being involved with K-State First, I also work at the Academic and Career Information Center (ACIC) and I am involved with volunteering in the community through Girls on the Run, University Christian Church and Alpha Sprouts. I am involved in Christian Challenge and Powercat Financial Counseling as a student advisory board member.
