Charles Hatfield
Charles Hatfield, Assistant Professor of English at California State University, Northridge, specializes in comics, word/image studies, and children's literature. He has published widely in comics theory and criticism, and his book, tentatively titled Alternative Comics: An Emerging Literature, is forthcoming in 2005 from the University Press of Mississippi. Charles is now editing, with Gene Kannenberg, Jr., and Joseph Witek, a collection of essays on underground comix, and he serves on the editorial boards of both the International Journal of Comic Art and the online ImageTexT: Interdisciplinary Comics Studies. In addition, Charles currently serves as Chair of the annual International Comic Arts Festival.
