Center on Aging: Circle of Care

Description:

This 10-year-old partnership between K-State's Center on Aging and the Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community provides mutual benefits for elders, Meadowlark Hills' staff, and K-State students via an integrated internship program. The Circle of Care works to extend research and education in the field of gerontology, and works to combat ageism and the stereotypical thinking that typically separate young adults from older individuals. This collaboration is continually documented for the purposes of information-sharing and academic journal articles. Out of the partnership, the Center on Aging staff have developed and taught at least three classes per year for staff continuing education credits as our contribution to the Circle of Care initiative. These classes have been advertised and open to staff from nursing facilities across the state.
