In his current role within K-State's Office of External Engagement, Matt Casey oversees the university's legislative priorities at both the state and federal levels, ensuring K-State's interests are effectively represented in policy discussions and funding decisions. This position requires strategic coordination with legislators, government officials and university leadership to advance institutional priorities.

With 17 years of government relations experience, including nine years as the director of government relations at the Kansas Board of Regents, Casey brings extensive expertise in navigating complex political landscapes and building productive relationships with key stakeholders. This background provides a deep understanding of higher education policy and the legislative process at both the state and federal levels.

Casey's experience directly supports K-State's mission through proven advocacy work. While at the Board of Regents, he successfully advocated for funding for all state institutions, including K-State, demonstrating a commitment to advancing higher education across Kansas. Since joining K-State in 2023, he has been instrumental in implementing the university's legislative agenda at the state and federal levels.

This combination of extensive government relations experience, deep knowledge of higher education policy and proven track record of successful advocacy makes Casey uniquely qualified to advance K-State's legislative priorities and ensure the university's voice is heard in critical policy discussions.
