Jaylen Lane assists in overseeing the university's legislative priorities at the state and federal levels within K-State's Office of External Engagement, working collaboratively to ensure K-State's interests are effectively represented in policy discussions and funding decisions. His role involves strategic coordination with legislators, government officials and university leadership to advance institutional priorities.

With nine years of government relations experience, he brings diverse expertise from multiple sectors and perspectives. His background includes four years working as a contract lobbyist for Watkins Public Strategies, two years at the Kansas Department of Revenue as their legislative liaison and one year as a legislative intern at the Kansas Department of Agriculture. This varied experience provides a comprehensive understanding of government operations from both advocacy and agency perspectives.

Since joining K-State, Lane has contributed to significant legislative engagement and funding growth achievements. Under his involvement, the university has successfully grown investments at the state and federal levels for the past two years. He has also helped expand K-State's legislative engagement efforts and implemented a government relations internship program, demonstrating a commitment to immediate results and long-term capacity building.

His combination of various government relations experience, proven track record of securing increased funding and dedication to developing the next generation of government relations professionals makes them a valuable asset to K-State's legislative advocacy efforts.
