Grades
At the end of each semester, all students receive a grade for each class. These grades are a part of their official academic record. Depending on the level, students receive a grade of Credit/No Credit or a Letter Grade (A, B, C, D, F) .
Beginning English through Intermediate English classes (DAS 136 - 150) are graded on a Credit / No Credit grading basis. These grades do not affect a student's Grade Point Average (GPA), but these grades are included on official university transcripts.
A grade of Credit in all classes allows you to advance to the next level. A grade of No Credit in any of the skills classes (Reading, Writing, Listening, or Speaking) means that you will need to repeat the level. Students who are repeating the same level will be required to take a 2-credit hour Academic Coaching class in order to help them be successful.
This policy goes into effect in Fall 2018. Grades of Credit before Fall 2018 may not be used to advance to the next level.
Your English level placement is determined by:
- your skill course grades (beginning in Fall 2018)
- your EPT scores
Classes in the Exit Level (DAS 151-166) are are graded according to the University's letter grade system. These classes will affect a student's undergraduate Grade Point Average (GPA).
