Theoretical Orientation/Professional Interests: Hello, I’m Sammye, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I’m passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where individuals can explore their experiences, build resilience, and work toward meaningful personal growth.
In my therapeutic work, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Positive Psychology to help clients navigate challenges and life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each person’s unique needs—focused on helping you gain insight, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with your sense of self.
Before joining Kansas State University, I worked as a therapist with Pawnee Mental Health, providing evidence-based therapy to individuals and families across all ages and backgrounds. I also spent several years at Cottonwood Springs Mental Health Facility, where I served in multiple roles including therapist, assessment specialist, and discharge coordinator. These experiences deepened my understanding of both acute, long-term care, substance abuse treatment, and reinforced my belief that healing happens best through compassion, collaboration, and connection.
Personal Interests: Outside of my work as a therapist, I find joy in spending time with my dogs, playing golf, exploring nature, learning about sharks, and unwinding with a good cup of tea. I believe in bringing that same curiosity and calm into the therapy space—helping clients feel grounded, seen, and supported as they move toward healing and growth.
