Therapeutic Orientation: I have worked as a mental health counselor for over a decade, giving me skills, understanding, and depth of experience that helps me meaningfully show up for my clients. I have a special focus on helping to heal the intersections of sexuality, identity, and trauma where so many of us have been hurt. I believe we are all experts of our own lives, and we deserve to be understood as we are. Sometimes the most powerful change happens because someone truly sees us. I strive to be a compassionate witness for all my clients. Prior to coming to K-State, as a private practice clinician, I specialized in serving LGBTQ2+ clients with various kinds of complex and relationship traumas and struggles. Being new to K-State, I am excited to support all our students in their mental health. My goal is to meet you where you're at and then we work together to move toward a goal you design.
My clinical approach is eclectic—I take a social constructionist, feminist, and person-centered approach that sees value in all people. This means that I get to know you as a person and look at the social and structural influences and roles you have in your life to understand where stress might be connected to patterns of coping connected to past traumas. I help people challenge the inner-critic our negative experiences have taught us to internalize, which can get in our way. I use EMDR, Flash, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, and other interventions to support growth and healing. I also have experience in substance recovery, couples counseling (monogamous and poly), non-traditional relationship structures (thruples, relationship anarchy, ENM, etc.), dissociative disorders, and sexual abuse trauma recovery.
Personal Interests: When I can find the time, I like doing art hobbies, spending time with my dear ones, finding the best snacks at Mama Fangs, and enjoying my small backyard farm with my chickens.
