Theoretical Orientation/Professional Interests: I serve as the Veteran and Military Affiliated Services Counselor at Kansas State University, supporting military-connected students within the campus community. Through my work with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and in partnership with the Military Affiliated Resource Center, I provide mental health support, outreach, and advocacy focused on the well-being of student veterans and their families. I’ve worked in the mental health field for over 10 years and am Tier-3 trained through Star Behavioral Health Providers, as well as a Level 1 Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. My clinical approach is eclectic and integrative, drawing from solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and transformative systemic therapy. I also ground my work in trauma-informed care, military cultural competence, and a systems-based perspective. I believe that everyone has the ability and desire to change—but that healing takes time, and not everyone feels they have the space or energy to wait for it. My goal is to walk alongside students as they work to create that space for themselves, so they can experience the healing and change they deserve.
Personal Interests: When I’m not at work, I enjoy time in the sun, going to the lake, working out, playing with my animals, and spending time with my partner.
