Wildcats in Recovery Addiction Peer Support Specialist

Wildcats in Recovery SMART Recovery® meetings are facilitated by K-State students who have earned their Addiction Peer Support Specialist Credentials.

Addiction Peer Support Specialists establish a safe, non-clinical therapeutic alliance with K-State students struggling with substance use or process disorders. After completing group facilitator certification, they develop and lead weekly, open SMART Recovery® meetings for Wildcats in Recovery, while participating in ongoing supervision meetings to identify ways to better serve students based on needs identified.

Students who have been selected to serve as Addiction Peer Support Specialists may earn 3 or 6 credit hours for fulfilling this volunteer role by enrolling in an independent study course.
