Move Out For Hunger

Cats' Cupboard Ambassadors are facilitating Move Out For Hunger in partnership with Housing & Dining once again this spring. Move Out For Hunger provides an option for students, as they move out of residence halls, to donate rather than discard unwanted food, hygiene items, and kitchen supplies to Cats' Cupboard. This spring the program will run May 11-15. Move Out for Hunger brought in 3,808 donations in spring of 2025, and 2,390 donations in spring of 2024. This year we aim to exceed this number and ask for your assistance sharing and spreading the word.

Donation drop boxes are located in the lobby of each residence hall on campus for students to donate items as they move out from May 11-15. Items accepted include:

  • Unopened, non-perishable food items
  • Unopened hygiene products
  • New or gently used kitchen/household appliances

Most needed items include:

  • Microwaves
  • Can openers (manual and electric)
  • Dish soap
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Ramen noodles
  • Shelf-stable milk
  • Gluten-free items
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Hand soap

Items that cannot be accepted include:

  • Perishable foods
  • Used hygiene products
  • Clothes
  • School supplies

Items can also be dropped off at Cats’ Cupboard during their regular hours. Be sure to tell staff you are dropping off for Move Out For Hunger!
