Assistant Director – College of Education and graduate students in the College of Arts & Sciences
The Assistant Director will serve as Career Center liaison to the College of Education and the graduate students in the College of Arts & Sciences. The Assistant Director will be accountable for the coordination, supervision and reporting of all college-based undergraduate career services. The Assistant Director will also be a member of the Director's Advisory Council that collaboratively provides leadership for center-wide activities, policies and procedures in order to effectively deliver comprehensive career development and employment services. This is a 9-month partially remote position. This position will also work 2 additional pay periods beyond those of the 9-month appointment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Advising (35%): Provide students and recent graduates with individual assistance in defining career options, developing employment skills and job searching. Assist students in identifying resources and information to support their career interests. Advise students through in-person meetings as well as online consultation.
Programming (25%): Develop, coordinate and facilitate training and skill development workshops to include resume preparation, job search strategies, employer research and interview skills. Present to large and small groups through classroom presentations, center-sponsored workshops, student group outreach and other customized programs.
Employer Relations (25%): Work with the Employer Relations Associate to build partnerships between the University and external constituents (business, public sector and non-profit entities). Facilitate employment connections through interview opportunities, internship/job listings, employer resume referrals, career fairs, and career meet-up events.
College/University Relations (10%): Work with and advise faculty, college administrators and other university personnel on opportunities for enhancing students’ career development and participation in experiential learning. Maintain existing quality relationships and develop new contacts through outreach efforts, communication and ongoing assessment of needs. Coordinate follow-up studies of recent graduates with college contacts to determine first destination status.
Additional Responsibilities (5%):
The Assistant Director will co-supervise a classified staff member, a Program Assistant and student employees as needed. The Assistant Director will also:
- Lead and/or support designated center-wide initiatives.
- Participate in staff meetings, team projects and other planning activities.
- Complete an annual performance evaluation.
- Take part in professional development.
The Assistant Director will provide additional services as assigned by the Associate Director.
Minimum Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor's degree and 3 years’ experience in university student services, teaching, human resource management or related field.

Salary Range: $22.38-$28.54 hourly
