The K-State Twirlers are a dynamic and integral part of the Pride of Wildcat Land, adding visual excitement and artistry to Kansas State University’s spirited game-day performances. Twirlers perform at all home football games, select basketball games, pep rallies, and community events—energizing crowds and representing Wildcat pride with every spin, toss, and routine.

In addition to on-campus appearances, the K-State Twirlers proudly travel with the band to bowl games and special performances, showcasing their talent on regional and national stages. Twirling for Kansas State is not only a prestigious opportunity but a lifelong dream realized for many students—made even more meaningful by performing alongside one of the top collegiate marching bands in the country.

Membership is open to experienced twirlers who demonstrate exceptional skill, enthusiasm, and dedication. Auditions are held annually, and students are expected to attend summer rehearsals to prepare for the upcoming season.

As a featured performer with the K-State Marching Band, K-State Twirlers bring spirit, energy, and precision to every performance. Twirlers are held to high standards of performance, professionalism, and commitment, proudly representing Kansas State University.

Performance Commitments

K-State Twirlers perform at:

Football pre-game, halftime, and sideline shows
University pep rallies and community parades
Select men’s and women’s basketball halftime performances
Designated university and community events

Uniforms & Expenses

Provided by the KSU Marching Band:

Official K-State Twirler uniforms

Purchased by Members:

Batons (as specified by the Twirler Coach)
Performance shoes (three designated pairs)
Team warm-ups and accessories: jacket, pants, t-shirt, shorts, tights, and gear bag

Estimated Costs:

New Members: $400+
Returning Members: $250+
All required payments must be completed before the first performance. Participation is contingent on full payment.
Fundraising opportunities are available to help offset costs.

Rehearsal & Attendance

Mandatory Attendance for all rehearsals and performances, including:

Summer Band Camp: Held in late July or early August (exact dates TBA)
Weekly Rehearsals:

Tuesday & Thursday: 3:30–5:30 PM
Friday (on home game weeks): 3:30–5:30 PM

Twirler Sectionals:

Monday: 3:30–5:30 PM
Wednesday: 3:30–5:15 PM
Tuesday Evenings: 6:30–8:00 PM

Game Day Rehearsals: Saturday mornings with report times between 6:00–8:00 AM
Spring Semester: Rehearsal schedule TBA

All absences must be approved by the Band Director and Twirler Coach in advance.

Communication

All communication should be made directly by the Twirler or candidate. To uphold professionalism, messages from family members are discouraged.

Additional Opportunities

K-State Twirler Experience: A fall recruitment event including campus tours, rehearsal observation, and one-on-one time with current Twirlers and staff.
Youth Twirling Clinic: A summer program for children in grades K–5 featuring baton instruction and a showcase performance.
