K-State Bands

Our history, our mission, our roots

The K-State Bands are vibrant, student-focused programs that celebrate the potential in every musician—regardless of experience or background. If you bring passion, talent, and a strong work ethic, you are exactly who we want in our community.

Our Concert Ensembles are as diverse and eclectic as the students who participate in them. With a range of opportunities, including the Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Concert Band, University Band, and various smaller ensembles, we offer the best of both large and small ensemble music-making.

The diversity within our Concert Ensembles creates a truly unique experience for both the bands and the students themselves. Importantly, you do not need to be a music major to participate in any of our Concert Ensembles—we welcome all students, regardless of their field of study.

Our Athletic Bands are the heartbeat of Wildcat Nation, full of spirit and pride. We are fortunate to have students from every college at K-State represented in these ensembles, and just like our Concert Ensembles, you do not have to be a music major to join!

Together, these groups bring the purple spirit to every Wildcat fan.

For aspiring music educators, we offer a variety of enriching educational events throughout the year, such as the Concert Band Clinic, Central States Marching Festival, Future Music Educators Day, and more. These events provide valuable learning experiences for both educators and students alike.

We are incredibly proud of the K-State Bands Program and invite you to explore our offerings further. No matter your musical interests, there’s a place for you in our ensembles, where you'll continue to make music, forge lasting friendships, and contribute to our vibrant community.
