As the Interim Eldon Gideon Dean of K-State’s College of Agriculture and Director of Ag Research, I am grateful to work with some of the most innovative, talented, and passionate students, faculty, and staff at any university. Individually and collectively, we embrace K-State’s land-grant mission and our role in helping shape the future of agriculture here in Kansas and worldwide.

The Ag Report is a sampling of the varied impacts we make in the daily lives of Kansans through our college’s educational initiatives, Extension programming and research conducted at experiment stations across the state. Our agricultural and related industries are dynamic and rapidly evolving. In this issue, you’ll read stories about how we are positioned to play a leading role in that evolution from the continued buildout of our Agriculture Innovation Initiative facilities to how we are leading the way in regenerative agriculture research. Other stories include our new partnership with Garden City Community College and the combination of our food and grain science programs.

These programs are successful because of the people committed to making them happen. It begins with the leadership that my predecessor, Dean and Director Ernie Minton, demonstrated over his career. As a researcher, teacher, and administrator, Dean Minton faithfully advanced our mission to serve Kansas and the world. The recent agriculture facilities projects are just one example of his impactful legacy. As a faculty administrator and alumnus, I am grateful for his leadership and dedication to our university.

I also appreciate this opportunity to serve my alma mater by leading the College of Agriculture as we search for the next dean. As I travel across Kansas and attend college-wide events, I look forward to meeting with you and learning how we can best serve the industry. Undoubtedly, the best is yet to come.
