Get ready to experience K-State

Our three-step program is fun, flexible and full of expert tips that will help set you up for success in your first semester at college and beyond. Parents, guardians and your support network will also have opportunities to learn how to help you prepare for college and support your success.

New Student Orientation is for any new-incoming Freshman, Transfer and International students.

New Student Orientation Overview

1. Enrollment in courses

Your academic advisor is the person who will help you enroll in classes for the Spring. After registering for New Student Orientation, your advisor will connect with you via your K-State email. You will receive instructions on how to view all available appointment times. You will be able to choose a specific time that works best for your schedule. Your advising appointment will last between 45 minutes and one hour.

Advising appointments are between the student and an advisor. If family members have questions, we can address them in the first or last 10 minutes of the appointment. Learn more about how to prepare for your appointment here.

2. Get "K-State Ready"

Getting “K-State Ready” means ensuring you have vital information about how to navigate this university such as:

Health services available
Campus safety and living in Manhattan
Finances such as understanding your bill, payment cycles
How to get an on-campus job
Essentials like getting your K-State ID and parking permit

Students who register on or after November 30th will receive a link to the recorded Get K-State Ready program. The recording will come via email after your advising appointment.

3. Week of Welcome

After academic advising and getting K-State Ready, there’s only one thing left to do. Buy. All. The. Purple.

Week of Welcome

During the first week of class, new or returning students are invited to join in the Week of Welcome activities. Week of Welcome is designed to provide you with opportunities, resources, and events to ensure your success at K-State.
