Planning Process
Our Process
Our work began with a comprehensive review of K-State colleges and other central unit plans to identify opportunities for alignment, support and innovation in advancing each college and major unit’s goals. The Administration and Finance (VPAF) leadership team reviewed the planning process, established a strategic planning committee, and identified initial themes for exploration.
Plan Development
Comprehensive Review
The Planning Committee synthesized strategic plans from the university, colleges, the strategic enrollment plan and the campus master plan to ensure alignment and integration.
Theme Development
Key themes were identified and documented to guide facilitated discussions.
Facilitated Discussions
Four thematic discussions were held with unit and campus participants to explore each theme in depth.
Draft Strategy Formation
Initial strategies, goals, and outcomes were developed for each major theme based on insights from the discussions.
Leadership Feedback
Feedback was gathered from the VPAF leadership team to refine the draft strategies.
Extended Leadership Engagement
A facilitated discussion with the extended VPAF leadership team is scheduled for January. This stage will gather additional insights, ensure alignment and foster a sense of ownership among department leaders and their teams.
Staff Survey
A draft plan will be shared with all unit staff via a survey in January to collect broad input and refine the plan further.
Finalization and Review
The strategic plan will be finalized after additional facilitated discussions and university-level review. The finalized draft will guide a focused conversation at the VPAF leadership retreat, ensuring alignment and integration into performance management goals.
